It seems as though we will always have two standard mediums for our entertainment to choose from to enjoy at any time.
In the beginning there was radio...and always will be. Radio begat records. Records begat 8Track Tapes, which sired Cassette tapes. Cassetes and Records coexisted until the CD came along. The CD or cassette was the way to go. CDs begat digital downloads. Now radio is also digital.
Film will always exist, though it begat TV. TV begat Beta, which was promptly replaced by VHS. You could watch your TV, use pay-per-view, or utilize VHS. VHS begat DVD, and DVD in turn begat Blu-Ray. Forking from the family tree is also digital downloads.
