Sorry Fellas

I guess I'm kinda back.......sorry......just been using MySpace Bulletins to post random thoughts, when they belong here.
--------------
Have you ever watched TV, saw a clever ad that cleverly used some bit of clever music to sell their clever product?

I just saw an ad for those VISA check cards where the people are lined up and the one person who is not cool has to stop and (gasp) write a check, thus backing up the line....anyway....they were playing a familiar tune (kind of whistly) that I know I had heard somewhere. Well, after doing some searching I realized it came from that Terry Gilliam movie "Brazil.'

I know that with all of the things that I like--that interest me--'Brazil' is a movie that I'm pretty much supposed to like. But, truth be told.....it bored me. I didn't enjoy it. Now, I know that one day I will give it another shot----just like "Blade Runner", but for now it just didn't work. I would much rather watch the film version of "1984". Same basic concept. (BUT THE BOOK '1984' IS GREAT, I SHOULD POINT OUT.)

ANYWAY......if you've ever looked at my iPod, you would have probably said to yourself 'why is THAT on there?' Well, I do have reasons......mostly b/c of things like clever TV Ads. I usually hope that I can see a clever ad and make a clever ripoff/riff of it.

And THAT is why I just found an .mp3 of Geoff Muldaur's 'Brazil' tune.

I'm also currently in the process of gathering some of that '80s country that has that contemporary cross-over sound....you know, sorta Eagles-ish (though I want to punch the Eagles in the face.) Mainly: RESTLESS HEART. Aren't they great?!?

The sound is SOOO hard to describe...but it instantly puts me back in that era of my life (around 5 or 6) when I would run around in my underwear with Miss 98 playing in the background.

But after that I'll go back to some good ol' 60s country.

Oh, and........Natalie Portman just did Star Wars for the money. I'm sure of it.
