Fish Sticks

Ok, so one of my fish is missing.

Before I begin, let me back up a bit to last year when I bought my fish tank. I was trying my hand at something I never had, and kinda always wanted one, so I thought that since I was on my own in my own (rented) house, and couldn't have a dog or cat, I would get a fish tank. Be one of those people.

So, I got a tank, and following the instructional guidelines, I set it up, waited a couple of days, and got some fish. It recommended only stocking half at first, then after a week get the rest. So, I did that.

Since that time, I have had 10 fish total. Now I only have 4, with a 5th one missing. The thing is.....1 is from the first 3 I bought, 1 is from the 2nd set of 2 I bought, 1 is an algae eater I got seprately months later, and 1 is from a set of 3 (or 4) "schooling" fish I got at one time.

Ok, so the first died at the other house I used to live at, shortly before I moved. I got a different species to replace it, and it died shortly after I moved. I didn't find it to fish it out in time before the others ate it's tail.

The next one--of the original three---I found looking as though it had just dropped to the bottom.

After that, I decided to get 3 (or 4) pretty tiny fish that all swim together...or "schooling." Well, only a coulpe of weeks later all but one were missing. I decided that the other big fish could have eaten them before I found them at the bottom....and It must have been so.

Then, 2 weeks ago, I couldn't find the other last remaining of the original 5...so I assumed it died, but couldn't find the body b/c it was a kinda little guy. So that weekend I almost totally drained the tank and found the body.

Now, I just noticed this morning, that I can't find one of the prettiest ones I had....but the thing is I don't see it on the bottom anywhere....and today is the first day I didn't notice it.......and it's wayyy too big for the others to have eaten. WHERE DID IT GO?

Did it hide under something to die? Did someone steal it?

Maybe one day I'll uncover the little fella.
