It Takes A Dad To Be A Man....

Ok....."The Color Purple" has moved to my 'movies that make me cry like a fat little girl' list. This joins "Big Fish", "Follow That Bird", parts of all 3 "LOTR" movies and "Masters Of The Universe" (although...that one makes me cry for a different reason) as well as many others but I can't name right now.

Ok Mr. Spielberg.....let's see you try to impress us with your crappy little 'War of the Worlds' thingy.

I actually saw this movie in Mrs. Irby's class in high school, but didn't get the effect b/c it was, you know, in school. In this movie you literally laugh and cry all within the same minute. Something very touching is followed with a gag or vice versa....it's like a roller coaster ride for the soul. Oh, and Oprah Winfrey is probably one of the best characters in movie history (all in my opinion, of course).

Still don't understand the 'half the movie on one side.....flip over to see the rest' thing. I mean, what, this isn't a laserdisc for crying out loud—compression technology has come a long way.

Things I expect of the new Batman Movie:

--Elliot Goldenthall's score. The theme was in all four recent Batman movies....the franchise just changed directors, not everything else. I mean, even Alfred and Commissioner Gordon were the same in all 4.......besides the music is great.

--I the toy section at WalMart I saw a 'Batman Ninja Sword' set. WTF??? Has 'Kill Bill' influenced Batman? Whoever uses the sword for whatever reason HAD BETTER BE WORTH IT. To me...Batman does NOT equal Ninjas.

--No Batsuit Batnipples.

--2 of the last 4 Batman movies had the dreaded 'parents getting killed' scene. I mean, that part of the story is soooo old news....it's basically like a movie preview that only shows the funny parts. There's no new territory to cover here. Let's just move on and get to the action. Let's not beat a dead horse.

--He must 'bump into' at least one (1) future nemesis. A young Harvey (TwoFace) Dent, a busty young.....er, whatever CatWoman's name was, a young Joker, etc., you get the point.

Call me if you want to go Saturday.
